How the DuPont schedule works
The DuPont schedule is a 4-crew, 12-hour rotation used in plants, utilities and emergency services. Each crew cycles through nights and days with a long break every four weeks.
The 28-day cycle
4 nights on, 3 off, 3 days on, 1 off, 3 nights on, 3 off, 4 days on, then 7 days off.
A full week off
The seven consecutive days off at the end of each cycle are the main reason teams choose DuPont.
Days and nights mixed
Unlike a fixed Pitman, every crew works both days and nights, so night work is shared evenly.
Rest checked automatically
The generator checks the minimum rest between shifts (10 hours by default) and flags anything that breaks it.

Frequently asked questions
How many people do I need for a DuPont schedule?
Four, one per crew, for one person on each 12-hour shift around the clock. Multiply by the people you need per shift.
Can a week have only one day off?
Yes, that is part of the DuPont pattern, which is why the US template requires at least 1 day off per week instead of 2.
Can I export it?
Yes: Excel with colors, a printable PDF, and a calendar file (.ics) for each employee.
Can I schedule several locations at once?
Yes, in one schedule. In the Shifts step click “I have several locations”: each location gets its own shifts and coverage, and in Team you mark where each person works. Staff fixed to a location only work there; staff who float rotate between locations, never two on the same day and always with their rest between shifts. Fixed rotations like this one keep working: each crew follows its pattern at its own location. You can view, print and export each location separately.
