How the Pitman schedule works
The Pitman schedule (also called 2-2-3 or "every other weekend off") covers 24/7 operations with four crews and 12-hour shifts over a 14-day cycle.
2 on, 2 off, 3 on
Each crew works 2 days, takes 2 off, works 3, takes 2 off, works 2 and takes 3 off. The pattern repeats every 14 days.
Every other weekend off
Because the cycle is two weeks long, each crew gets a full three-day weekend off every other week.
Overtime built in
Pitman averages 42 hours a week: weeks alternate between 36 and 48 hours. The summary shows overtime above 40 hours per week.
Continues month to month
The rotation is anchored to a fixed start date, so next month picks up exactly where this one ended.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Pitman schedule the same as 2-2-3?
Yes. "2-2-3" describes the work pattern (2 on, 2 off, 3 on) and Pitman is the common name for that rotation with four crews.
Do crews rotate between days and nights?
In this template crews A and B work days and C and D work nights. If you want crews to swap, change the pattern or use the DuPont rotation, which mixes days and nights.
Can I change the shift times?
Yes. In the Shifts step edit the start and end of the Day and Night shifts, for example 6 AM–6 PM.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser and is saved only on your device. There's no account and no server.
Can I schedule several locations at once?
Yes, in one schedule. In the Shifts step click “I have several locations”: each location gets its own shifts and coverage, and in Team you mark where each person works. Staff fixed to a location only work there; staff who float rotate between locations, never two on the same day and always with their rest between shifts. Fixed rotations like this one keep working: each crew follows its pattern at its own location. You can view, print and export each location separately.
