The math with five employees
One person per shift, seven days a week, is 21 shifts of 8 hours.
Four shifts of margin
Five people can work about 25 shifts a week with two days off each. That leaves four spare shifts for a weekend peak or a swap.
About 34 hours each
21 shifts over five people is 4.2 shifts, or about 34 hours. Under 40, so no overtime in a normal week.
Rotate forward
Day, then swing, then night. Rest between shifts is checked: no night followed by a morning.
Vacations eat the margin
One person off for a week uses the four spare shifts and more. A sixth person solves it.

Frequently asked questions
Is five enough for 24/7?
Yes, on three 8-hour shifts with one person each. There is little slack for vacations, so a sixth person is safer.
Can someone work only nights?
Yes. Mark the other shifts as off-limits for that person and the generator gives them nights, spreading the rest between the others.
Can I add a weekend peak?
Yes, raise the coverage on those days. With five employees you can add up to four extra shifts a week.
Can I schedule several locations at once?
Yes, in one schedule. In the Shifts step click “I have several locations”: each location gets its own shifts and coverage, and in Team you mark where each person works. Staff fixed to a location only work there; staff who float rotate between locations, never two on the same day and always with their rest between shifts. Fixed rotations like this one keep working: each crew follows its pattern at its own location. You can view, print and export each location separately.
